What’s In The Box

The Oraimo BoomPop 2S and the BoomPop 2 come with the same set of items in the box. In the box, you get the headphones, a Type-C cable, a 3.5mm jack, and a welcome guide. That’s all you get in the box.

Design And Build Quality

At first glance, you probably think both headphones are the same. To all fairness, they rock the same design and build quality. Both headphones are covered all around with durable plastic material, and both come with a matte finish. Both headsets are similar in weight and are foldable. The ear cups of both headphones are made from a soft PU material that helps enhance comfort.

You have green accents on the outer part of both ear cups and also a green accent by the end of the headband. This color combination makes both headphones beautiful and fashionable. All the control buttons are on the right side of both headphones. Also, on the right side is the charging port. The only difference we notice in the design aspect is that the Oraimo BoomPop 2S comes in blue while the Oraimo BoomPop 2 features a black color. Apart from the color difference, everything else in these headphones is the same.

Connectivity

On the connectivity aspect, both headphones have the same features. They both come with Bluetooth 5.3, a 10-meter transmission range and support multipoint connection. This means you can connect two devices to both headphones at the same time. Let’s say you can connect to your phone and your laptop and use them at the same time. Also, they both give a seamless and stable connection. And if you don’t want to use the Bluetooth connection, both support the wired cable connection. With this, you can connect both headphones to any device using the 3.5mm jack they both came with.

Sound Quality

Even in the sound aspect, you can hardly tell which is better. Both come equipped with a 40mm dynamic driver that helps deliver unparalleled sound quality. They both deliver thumping bass and nice mids and high frequency. And if you don’t like the sound output, you can tweak the sound of both using the Oraimo sound app. On the sound app, you can choose the EQ that best suits you well or simply create your own EQ.

Both lack the ANC feature and both have the same downside, which is sound leakage. When you crank up the volume, someone close by tends to hear the jam you are playing. I really thought Oraimo would fix this issue on the BoomPop 2S, but they didn’t, so you get the same problem in both headphones. Both are also widely compatible, so you can use them on laptops, Androids, and even iOS devices.

Battery Performance

Both Oraimo headphones come with a battery of 500mAh. But there is a clear difference between both headphones’ battery performance. We tested both at 60% volume level, and we found out that the BoomPop 2 has 68 hours of playtime on a single charge, whereas the BoomPop 2S gives 62 hours and 18 minutes. As you can see, there is a clear winner here, which is the Oraimo BoomPop 2. So if you want a headphone with lengthy playtime, the BoomPop 2 is your go-to headphone.

Controls

Both headphones come with the same button controls. You have the play/pause button, which also doubles as the next/previous button. However, the BoomPop 2S has gesture control where you don’t need to touch the headphone before you control it. With gesture control, you can switch songs, and play or pause songs. Also, you can pick up calls and end calls with gesture control. Because of these added gesture features, I think the BoomPop 2S is the clear winner here.

Call Quality And Game Mode

To the call quality, both headphones come with the same call features. The mics of both headphones are well-placed, and both also feature environmental noise cancellation, which helps eliminate disturbing noise from the environment. So both are perfect for both normal and online calls. To the gaming part, both feature game mode which you can switch on in the app. The latency is a bit low but not that perfect, so don’t use them for high graphics games, or you may experience serious lagging.

Price And Availability

As of the time of writing this post, the Oraimo BoomPop 2S goes for ₦36,900 while you can get the BoomPop 2 for ₦28,900. From the price, you can see that the BoomPop 2S is more expensive than the BoomPop 2. My guess for the price difference might be due to the gesture controls you have on the 2S headphones.
