Design And Build Up Quality
Both the Oraimo Freepods 4 and Freepods 3 earbuds comes in a stem style design. They are both lightweight and comfortable to wear. And also come with different ear tip sizes which help gives a firm grip to the ears. Also, the stem of both earbuds houses the touch controls and the microphone. Remember that the Oraimo Freepods 3 has an attach and detach ways of using the silicon tips which some of us complained about. Because of the pain it causes to the ears after using it for a long period.
With this in mind, Oraimo listened and made an improvement in the Oraimo Freepods 4. The Freepods 4 comes with a more improved attachment style which gives better comfort to the ears. And also, Oraimo claimed that the Freepods 4 ear tips were specially designed to help reduce the risk of bacterial and fungi infections. So you have little to no worries about the germs on your earbuds.
Regarding the charging case, the Oraimo Freepods 4 charging case is different from the Oraimo Freepods 3 case. The Freepods 3 features the usual clamshell, Airpods style kind of casing. While, the Freepods 4 comes with a new design to the market. It features a modern, matte finish and a sleeker design case with a slide-to-open mechanism. This makes the Freepods 4 case more classy.
It’s worth pointing out that the Oraimo Freepods 3 has IPX 5 waterproof rating. With that, it can survive splashes and sweats. Same applies to the Freepods 4. It also comes with a water-resistant rating of IPX5, which makes it resistant to water sprinkling, sweat, and rain. So, you can’t go wrong with either of these earbuds when it comes to workouts and outdoor exercises.
Last on the design is the charging port. Both come with the usual Type-C charging port.
Sound Quality And Oraimo Sound App Features
Let’s start with the sound features. The Oraimo Freepods 4 come equipped with 10mm dynamic and composite diaphragms. It also features a HavyBass algorithm that should help enhance the bass quality of the earbuds. While the Freepods 3 is equipped with 13mm high sensitive drivers which help to produce incredibly powerful bass. When we put both to the test, we observed that the Oraimo Freepods 3 has a more punchy bass than the Freepods 4 by default.
The Freepods 3 concentrate more on the bass while Freepods 4 concentrate more on the mids, then the bass, then the tremble. However, you can enhance the bass quality of the Freepods 4 by using the Oraimo Sound App. The Oraimo Sound App is what set these two apart. You can use the Oraimo Sound App to customize your sound preference. Using any of the EQ modes to enhance the sound quality of the Freepods 4.
Also, you can use the app to adjust the touch controls, switch between noise control modes, and also use it to find your earbuds if you lose them. Please note that you can only track or locate them within 10 mteres when they are actively connected to the smart phone. Ironically the Oraimo Freepods 3 doesn’t support the Oraimo Sound App which is a big advantage to the Oraimo Freepods 4. Less I forget, the Freepods 4 comes with active noise cancellation (ANC) that helps suppress the surrounding noise to help give you a better listening experience.
Both earbuds comes with environmental noise cancellation (ENC) but during our testing, we noticed that the Oraimo Freepods 3 handles noise during voice calls better. Also, the Freepods 4 features a transparent mode which makes you aware of the surrounding noise when you are listening to music. This feature helps you to listen to music without removing the earbuds from your ear while you will still be aware of everything happening around you.
Call Quality
Both have excellent call quality. The Freepods 4 and 3 come with 4 mic beamforming technology and an AL deep neural network algorithm which help to suppress the surrounding noise during calls. When we tested both they both gave the similar quality. There was no form of disturbance during the call and the person at the other end call hear us. So both are superb in this aspect. But if we are to pick, the Oraimo Freepods 3 handles it well.
Oraimo Freepods 4 Vs Oraimo Freepods 3: Battery Life
Both Oraimo earbuds have an impressive battery life, but there is a slight difference between them. Let’s go find out. The Oraimo Freepods 4 gives 7 hours of playtime with the ANC on and 8 hours 30 minutes of playtime when you are off the ANC and its charging case gives an extra 22 hours with ANC on and 27 hours when you are off it at a single charge. Whereas the Freepods 3 lacks the ANC feature so consumes lesser power. On a single charge, you get 8 hours of playtime and the case gives an additional 28 hours. So, you see the battery life of the Oraimo Freepods 4 is slightly better in this aspect.
Bluetooth Connection And Google Fast Pairing Support
Both earbuds feature the same Bluetooth version 5.2. However, the Freepods 3 gives you the ability to pair two Freepods 3 to a single device, which is absent in the Freepods 4. But the Freepods 4 comes with its outstanding feature which is the Google Fast Pairing Support. The feature allows the earbuds to pop up on your phone screen when you open them. It helps to quickly connect your device to the earbuds. Lastly, both have low latency which you can manage for gaming. However, we noticed that the Freepodss 4 has a better gaming sound than the Freepods 3 when used to play high graphics games.
Oraimo Freepods 4 Vs Oraimo Freepods 3: Price
Now to the most important thing, the price. To me, both are budget-friendly earbuds. The Oraimo Freepods 4 cost ₦21,900 and the Freepods 3 cost ₦16,900, as of the time of writing this post. The price shows the Freepods 4 as the more expensive earbuds. However, if you look at the added features the Freepods 4 come with, you see that there isn’t much difference in the price.
Recommendation
The Oraimo Freepods 3 is a nice earbud despite its lagging behind the Freepods 4 in some aspects. If you already have the Oraimo Freepods 3, I will say you should just stick with it if you are on a budget. But if you are going to get a new one, the Freepods 4 should be your pick. Since there is not much difference in the price and the Freepods 4 come with upgraded features. You can’t go wrong with either of these earbuds.
