Look And Design

The charging case looks similar to the Oraimo Freepods 4. I don’t know why but that’s what you will be getting. It still maintains the sliding mechanism you get from the Freepods 4, you have the LED indicator at the front and the Type-C charging port at the back. The lunar design makes the charging case really cool and ergonomic. You have the Oraimo brand name at the top, the surface has a rough look and it has a woody feeling to it when you touch it though the case is made from plastic.

Sliding open the case you get the buds sitting comfortably in the charging case, there is an LED light that signifies that the buds are well placed in the case. Now to the earbuds themselves, the buds are stem styled and have an in-ear design. According to Oraimo, the ear tips are antibacterial which helps reduce the risk of both bacteria and fungal infections and these ear tips come in three sizes, small medium, and large. Let’s talk about the weight of the earbuds, on a weighing scale these buds weigh 10g which is super lightweight and you won’t feel much weight when you put them on.

The comfort levels are top-notch, you can have them on for a long period and not feel any pain or fatigue. On the stem of the buds, you have the Burna Boy name inscribed in gold and the Oraimo brand name by the side. At the top of the buds are the touch-sensitive areas. The Oraimo SpacePods comes with a waterproof certification of IPX5 and it’s the same with that of the Freepods 4. The IPX5 means the buds can only withstand little water splashes and you need to be careful with sand or dust accumulating at the sliding area, must sand would affect the sliding of the case which in turn might damage it.

Sound Quality

The Oraimo SpacePods come with composite diaphragms and 10mm dynamic drivers that help deliver tremendous bass, which is an exclusive algorithm of HavyBassTM. With a 0.006mm ultra-thin diaphragm, Oraimo claims you can listen to your favorite music with impressive sound quality. On our test, they deliver, when you consider that it’s a low-budget earbud. Am no audio expert but from the little I know, I could say that the sound quality is ok for an average person.

You will only have an issue when you are coming from a more expensive earbud. We test out various bass songs using the buds, it’s decently loud with punchy bass and nice mids, The vocals can also be heard clearly and you can distinguish different instruments from the song. If you don’t like the sound quality and want to change your taste, you can do that using the Oraimo sound app which is available on both Google Play Store and App Store.

The app comes with premium sound EQ which you can apply to help improve the sound of the earbuds. The only issue here is that when you crack the volume high, someone close to you can hear whatever you are listening to. In public places, this can be an issue but when you are indoors I don’t think there is any problem with that. Overall, the sound is decent for me but what do you think?

Active Noise Cancellation

Active noise cancellation is one feature everyone now searches for when getting a new earbud. And it’s lovely that this comes with it. The ANC on the SpacePods isn’t the best but it was able to block a small amount of noise from getting in. Indoors, the ANC works perfectly okay with minimal noise but when you are outdoors that is where you get the problem.

I would say with was able to block about 50 percent of noise but with an earbud at this price, the ANC is super okay for me. It also comes with transparency mode, this mode helps you to be aware of what is happening around you and you do not need to take out the buds. The transparency mode is also on a normal level, it’s not up there all decent. You can switch between modes using the app or by double-tapping on the earbuds to switch.

App Compatibility

The Oraimo X Burna Boy SpacePods is compatible with the Oraimo sound app and the app is available on both iOS and Android. With the app installed on your phone, you can choose to tweak the sound settings of the earbuds by choosing from the available precepts or you can decide to create your custom sound settings. Also, you can check the battery level of the buds and control them directly using the app. There are a lot of benefits you will get from the app.

Connectivity And Game Mode

It comes equipped with Bluetooth 5.2 which helps establish a fast and stable connection with your device. The transmission range of 10m makes it easy to listen to music while the phone is not with you. For Android users, you get a Google fast pairing pop-up notification on the screen each time you open the earbuds case. This helps to connect with your phone in a short period. The low latency features make the Buds good for video streaming and perfect for gaming.

The earbuds sync well with fewer graphics games, however, you will experience latency when you use them for high-graphics games. But turning on the game mode helps reduce latency, this only reduces it since you can still experience lag when using it to play games like Asphalt 9 and GTA. Furthermore, it comes with the ‘Find my device’ feature. This comes in handy when you don’t know where you place the earbuds. Please do not have the buds on when testing this feature, since the sound from the buds can cause serious damage to the ears.

Battery Life Performance

Oraimo claimed that the earbuds can deliver 8.5 hours of playtime at a single charge with ANC off and when you turn on ANC, you get 7 hours, while the case gives an additional 27 hours. This is the level you get when you use it on a normal volume level, but if you crack up the volume you get a 5-hour playtime which is still decent if you ask me. Recharging the earbuds takes 2 hours to full. You can recharge using the short Type-C cable or get Oraimo-recommended cables to charge the buds. When charging, you will notice the LED indicator blinking. It supports fast charging, a 10-minute quick charge gives you 170 minutes of playtime.

Oraimo X Burna Boy SpacePods–Call Quality

The earbuds are good for making all kinds of calls, be it video calls or voice calls. The ANC does well to block ambient noise when on a call. Indoors, you won’t experience any distraction and you get a crystal clear conversation. But in a busy environment, the person at the other end of the call experiences little difficulty due to the noise. Generally speaking, the call quality is decent and for a low-budget earbud, I give the call quality 4/5.

Verdict

To be honest, the Oraimo X Burna Boy SpacePods is not too different from the Freepods 4, the only difference is the Burna Boy voice prompt you get on the SpacePods and the lunar design. But every other feature is practically the same with the Freepods 4. I wish Oraimo added the wireless charging feature that most new earbuds come with, this will be the selling point. However, it is still a decent earbud.

I will say if you have the Freepods 4 there is no need to get this one. But I do recommend this Oraimo X Burna Boy SpacePods for those who are in search of new earbuds. If you go out a lot, you will need the SpacePods bag, you can get this at the Oraimo eShop still using the discount code ‘BRACKET’. The code works for other Oraimo products too. Make sure to support us by using this code, so we can get you more honest reviews about the Oraimo products.
