Spread the love

Recently we had a chance to test the Oraimo 65W GaN charger and we can say it’s the perfect solution for those who juggle multiple devices. Oraimo never seems to disappoint with its products and we can bet that the 65W GaN charger is no exception. Before we get into the review, let’s answer the question ‘What is a GaN charger’? GaN stands for Gallium Nitride and is way better than the traditional chargers that are made from silicon.

These types of chargers come with numerous advantages which include compact size, and higher efficiency. Furthermore, GaN chargers are generally more reliable compared to silicon chargers this is due to their better heat management. The Oraimo 65W GaN charger boasts of all these features, but don’t take my word for it, Let go find out.

What’s in The Box?

The Oraimo 65W GaN charger comes in a portable-looking pack. You get the image of the charger at the front and some specifications of the charger by the side. Opening the box, you are greeted with the 65W GaN charger and a one-meter 100W cable. This didn’t come with a user manual, I guess Oraimo found out we don’t read this.

Design And Build Quality

The Oraimo 65W GaN charger has a robust feel and comes with a simple design that is pleasing to the eyes. It comes with a dark blue colour and the port side features a gray colour. One side of the charger features an Oraimo imprint while the other side has the 65W imprint. The plugs are not foldable which might be a drawback for some but they are durable.

The charger has a total weight of 203 grams if you include the cable. This makes it incredibly portable and perfect for on-the-go use. Also, this comes with three ports (2 USB-C and a USB-A port) which means you can use the charger to charge multiple devices at the same time.

Furthermore, the charger comes with built-in safety features which include overcharge protection, short circuit prevention, and temperature control. These features help keep both the charger and your devices safe. To be honest, this Oraimo GaN charger has a durable build quality and I bet It can survive one or two drops without getting damaged.

Features And Charging Performance

As I mentioned earlier, this charger comes with three ports and Oraimo claimed each of these ports supports the Oraimo AniFast fast charging technology. This means each of these ports will deliver fast charging, also it comes with a Power Delivery(PD) 3.0 making it widely compatible with most devices. You can use the charger to charge laptops, smartphones, and even smartwatches and earbuds.

In our testing, we used the Oraimo GaN charger to charge a 13-inch MacBook Pro and it was able to charge the laptop from 0 to 50% in forty minutes which is quite impressive if you ask me. Smartphones like the Tecno and Infinix benefit immensely from the fast charging capabilities of this charger, reducing the amount of time you wait for your phone to get charged. Furthermore, the charger intelligently distributes power across connected devices.

For instance, when we first connected the MacBook Pro to a single Type-C port, the GaN charger was able to deliver an output of 62W. When we tested the USB-A port by charging an Infinix Zero phone, it delivered a 22.5W output. On our findings, if you plug in two devices, you get a power output of 61W and if you use all three ports, you get a maximum output of 60W. Coming down to heat management, the charger operates in cooler temperatures even during heavy use. This makes it ideal for an extended period of use.

Just like every other Oraimo product, this sits within a budget-friendly range as at the time of writing this post, the charger is priced at NGN 37,500 which is equivalent to $21.
