A few weeks back, I informed you of the upcoming Oraimo earbuds which are the Oraimo Freepods Lite and the Freepods 3C. In that preview, I promised that when any of the earbuds hit the market, am going to get them and give you an honest review of them. Finally, have got my hands on the Oraimo Freepods Lite. The earbuds have been with me for a few days and have been running some tests on them to see if they live up to the hype. After a few days of testing, I can confidently say that the Oraimo Freepods Lite earbuds have truly impressed me with their remarkable sound quality, user-friendly features, and decent battery life. Though it has some incredible features, it’s cheap, these earbuds also have their downs. I will be letting you know all have discovered while using these earbuds. Let’s go.

Oraimo Freepods Lite-Unboxing

To begin the review, we have to unbox the guy, to see what it comes with. The Freepods Lite comes in the popular green and black Oraimo box color. The box isn’t the biggest and also not the smallest. You get the image of the Freepods Lite at the front and a few specifications of the earbuds. Opening the box, you are greeted with the Oraimo Freepods Lite, a user manual, extra ear tips, and a short Type-C cable. These are the usual stuff we get in most Oraimo earbuds boxes.  Let’s go check out the design and build quality.

Design, Build Up Quality, And Comfort

In my preview of these earbuds, I told you that the Oraimo Freepods Lite will come in three colors, nebula blue, phantom black, and sky blue. However, the available color in the Oraimo store is phantom black. The charging case looks similar to that of the Oraimo Freepods Pro, it has an indicator at the front and the charging port underneath. The case is a bit transparent and looks premium.

It’s portable ad small enough to slide into your pocket. The Oraimo Freepods Lite earbuds boast an eye-catching and modern design. The translucent black finish with the Oraimo logo subtly engraved on each earbud gives them a premium look. You can see through the earbuds. The earbuds are ergonomically designed to fit snugly into the ears, and they come with multiple silicone ear tips to cater to different ear sizes. Both earbuds weigh about 9 grams which is lightweight if you ask me.

During my testing, I found the earbuds to be exceptionally comfortable, even during extended listening sessions. Their lightweight construction ensured that I could wear them for hours without experiencing any discomfort. Additionally, the earbuds are equipped with intuitive touch controls, allowing easy playback, call management, and volume adjustments.

This convenience enhances the overall user experience, enabling hassle-free usage on the go. One thing though, the earbuds don’t have any indicator on them to show you if they are connected or not. This is one feature other Oraimo earbuds have that is lacking in this. Furthermore, the Freepods earbuds come with a waterproof rating of IPX4, which makes them capable of withstanding splashes and sweat. But they are not good for swimming or any water sport.

Oraimo Sound App Compatibility

The fact the Oraimo Freepods Lite is compatible with the Oraimo Sound app takes these earbuds to a different level. Come to think of it, even our all-time favorite the Freepods 3 is not compatible with the sound app. You can do a lot with the app. You can control the volume level of the earbuds directly from the app. Out of the box, the Freepods Lite doesn’t come with volume control, so you can do all that when you sync up the app with the earbuds. You can also use the sound app to enhance the bass level of the earbuds. If you are not satisfied with the sound quality, you can EQ it with the app. You can carry out more function with that one edge the Freepods Lite have over others.

Sound Quality

The most crucial aspect of any earbud is its sound performance, and the Oraimo Freepods Lite certainly does not disappoint. These earbuds feature 10mm dynamic drivers that deliver impressive audio output, normal bass, clear mids, and crisp highs. During my testing, I listened to various music genres and the earbuds handled them all with finesse.

However, the bass isn’t as punchy as you get in the Freepods 3 and Freepods Pro. Out of the box, you won’t love the bass, but you can use the sound app to tweak the bass to your liking. This is one feature that makes the Freepods Lite similar to the Freepods 4.

The mids were adequately pronounced, allowing vocals and instruments to shine through with remarkable clarity. The high frequencies were smooth and devoid of any harshness, ensuring a pleasant listening experience even at higher volumes. The passive noise isolation offered by the snug fit of the earbuds added to the immersion, blocking out most ambient noises, making them ideal for use in noisy environments or during commutes.

Wireless Performance

The Oraimo Freepods Lite earbuds employ Bluetooth 5.3 technology which is the latest Bt version in the market. This BT version gives you a stable and reliable connection. Pairing the earbuds with my smartphone was quick and effortless, and they automatically reconnected to the last paired device when taken out of the case, making the overall experience seamless.

I was particularly impressed with the wireless range, as I could move around my apartment without experiencing any drop in connection. They also come with SBC and AAC connection modes, which means they seamlessly connect to both Androids and iPhones.

In addition, the earbuds feature a three minutes auto shutdown. What this does is that if you open the lid or bring out the earbuds and you didn’t connect them in the space of three minutes is going to shut down. Now, this help to preserve the battery life of the earbuds, so you have three minutes to connect them to whatever device you wish to connect them to.

Battery Life

Oraimo Freepods Lite earbuds boast an impressive battery life, with up to 7 hours of continuous playback on a single charge. The accompanying charging case houses additional power, providing up to 33 hours of playtime. During my testing, the battery life lived up to its claims, allowing me to enjoy uninterrupted music for extended periods without worrying about recharging. Also, I was able to recharge the earbuds about 5 times using the charging case.

The USB Type-C charging port supports the Anifast fast charging technology. Oraimo claimed that on a 10 minutes charge, you can get 120 minutes of playtime. To my surprise, the claims were true. When the earbuds were out of battery, I recharge them for 10 minutes to see to put the claims to the test. After the 10 minutes recharge, I was able to use the earbuds for good 120 minutes.

Please note I run my test at a 70% volume level which is decent enough. Another thing I love is the charging light. When you plug in your charger, the green indicator light at the front of the case fades in and out. This shows you that it’s charging and when it’s full it stops blinking. This helps out a lot, you can know if the case is charging or not. Unlike most earbuds cases that only have a static light, you won’t know whether the case is charging or not.

Call Quality Test

These earbuds come with 2 mic beaming array and ENC technology that can detect and filter out any ambient noise when on a call. With this in place, you can get a crystal clear call without getting noise disturbances from the surroundings. The Oraimo Freepods Lite is perfect for making all kinds of calls which include Whatsapp calls, Zoom calls, and so on. An added feature of these earbuds is that you can have two calls at the same time.

What I mean is, if you are on a call with someone and you get an incoming call, you can tell the person to hold while you answer the other call. And when you are done, you can go back to the other call you were having. And you don’t need your phone to do this, the earbuds are all you need. This is a cool feature that is absent in other earbuds. If you are one that usually has different calls and you don’t want to sacrifice one of the other, these earbuds are worth trying out.

Oraimo Freepods Lite-Controls

The Oraimo earbuds come with touch control sensors which are located just above the Oraimo brand name. During my test, the controls are a bit slow. You will experience a few seconds of delay when you tap on the earbuds. But when you consider the price of the earbuds, you won’t have many complaints, and it is still manageable if you ask me. Here are the tap controls.

  • Double tap on either earbud to pause/play music
  • Press hold the left earbuds for a second to skip backward
  • Press hold the right earbud for a second to skip forward
  • Tap the right bud three times to summon voice assistant on your phone
  • Tap the left earbud three times to switch between normal mode to game mode

Oraimo Freepods Lite-Game Mode

The Oraimo buds support gaming mode, you can activate the gaming mode by tapping on the left bud three times. The game mode gives a seamless audio-visual sync and an authentic gaming sound. During my test, I could still experience little latency, it is manageable though. But season gamers won’t appreciate the little lagging. However, if you just play games casually the earbuds will serve you.
