Oraimo Spacebuds Review–Are They Worth It?

Oraimo Spacebuds
Spread the love

Are the new Oraimo Spacebuds any good? Should you upgrade if you have any of the previous Oraimo earbuds, we intend to answer these questions in this review. It’s no longer news that Oraimo added new earbuds to their portfolio. From the listed features on the Oraimo website, the Spacebuds promises to be one of the best affordable earbuds this year. Why do I say so, read on to find out.

Unboxing

The Oraimo Spacebuds come in a nice portable rectangular box with the image of the earbuds at the front. So for those planning on getting one of these, what you get in the box is the usual items, including a Type-C charging cable, extra silicon ear tips (of different sizes), a welcome guide, and the earbuds’ case. That’s all you get in the case.

Design And Build Quality

The Spacebuds charging case adopts a circular design which I think is inspired by the lunar eclipse. It sports a similar resemblance to the Oraimo Freepods 4 and the SpacePods. But the difference here is that this looks more sleeker and beautiful. The case has a metallic 3D flowing texture surface which makes it a little bit slippery on the hand. The case is compact and slides into your pocket easily. It also features a scratch-resistant surface with a matte finish at the back to help withstand scratches.

The interesting part of the case is the lighting effect when you slide open or close the buds. You can also customize the lighting effect to your style using the sound app which we will be talking about later. The earbuds themselves have undergone some changes. They now come with a black metallic finish with a splash of purple and green on the stem which help add more beauty to them. The only problem here is that the surface looks prone to scratches, so you might want to be careful with them.

The top of the earbuds are also transparent, which allows you to see inside the buds, this is cool If you ask me. The earbuds are lightweight and sit well in the ears. It comes with an IPX4 water rating which makes it resistant to water splashes and dust. The Spacebuds have an impressive design and the design might be one of the reasons you should go get it.

Connectivity And Game Mode

The earbuds use Bluetooth 5.4 which helps to establish a seamless and stable connection. It also supports the SBC and AAC codecs which makes it widely compatible with most devices. The earbuds have a transmission range of 10 meters which is decent. It supports Google fast pairing on Android 6.0 and above devices. To be able to use these earbuds to their full potential you will need the Oraimo sound app. You can get that on the Apple Store or the Google Play Store.

However, if you don’t want to go through the stress of searching for the app, just scan the QR code on the welcome guide and this will take you to where to download the app. This works for those with iOS 12 and above and Android 6 and above. Lastly, these earbuds support dual connectivity which means you can connect two devices to these earbuds. You can set this on the app. The dual connection has a transition time of three seconds which is quite impressive if you ask me.

The App

With the Oraimo sound app, you can enjoy the full potential of these earbuds. Once you install the app, you get a list of all Oraimo earbuds that are compatible with the app. Go ahead and pair the buds to the app and that’s it.

Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency Mode And Smart Chat Mode

The Oraimo Spacebuds come with Active noise cancellation features that can reduce noise to about 50dB immersing you in a wonderful listening experience. The buds effortlessly eliminate any kind of distraction from the surroundings. On the app, you have three levels of ANC ranging from lowest to highest. With this, you can set the level of ANC that best suits you. You can also set the transparent mode on the app.

This mode helps you to be aware of your surroundings while using the earbuds. Another feature you can activate on the app is the smart chat mode. How this works is that, when it detects any kind of noise from you it automatically stops playing. With this, it automatically switches between noise cancellation and transparency mode allowing you to engage in conversion while in ANC mode. if the earbuds didn’t detect any speech or sound in eight seconds, it auto switch back to noise cancellation. This is one feature you get in the most expensive earbuds, so Oraimo thumps up.

Customize Voice Prompt And Lighting Effect

Oraimo Spacebuds

Another key feature of these earbuds is the ability to customize your voice prompt. If you don’t like the default voice prompt, you can record yours which is cool right? To get this done, go into a silent room, launch the sound app, locate the voice prompt and you will get a list of all you need to record. By the way, recording is seamless and easy. This is one aspect I love because I get to hear my voice say ‘connect’, ‘pairing’, and much more. You can customize the lighting effect right inside the app. This means you can select the color effect that sits well with you. It’s pretty easy to do.

Sound Quality And Call Quality

The Spacebuds come equipped with an integrated 11 mm dynamic driver which helps to deliver an impressive sound quality. The sound quality feels natural and the bass quality is punchy enough for casual music listeners. However, if you are the type that loves high thumping bass you might not enjoy this.

It has nice mids and crisp highs and you can differentiate each musical instrument being used in the song. The vocals are also very clear, for its price I would say the sound quality is more than enough. You can choose to tweak the sound quality to your taste using the sound app. The app comes with a few EQs to help you achieve this.

Coming to call quality, the earbuds come with four microphones with an AI deep neural network algorithm. These features help to deliver a crystal clear call quality. The earbuds are perfect for both normal and online calls. Indoors, the call quality is superb, however, in noisy environments, it does its best to filter out external noise but you still get a few noises that get in when making calls.

Touch Controls

The Spacebuds come with an impressive touch control pad on each bud located above the Oraimo brand name.

Functions Touch controls
Play/Pause Tap twice
Next track Tap twice
Previous track Tap three times
Answer calls Tap twice
End calls Tap twice
Reject calls Tap and hold until you hear two beeps
ANC Tap and hold until you hear two beeps
Game mode Tap the right earbud and hold until you hear four beeps
Voice assistance Tap the left earbud and hold until you hear four beeps

You can use the app to customize the touch control to your liking if you don’t like the default controls. Another cool feature on the app is called the wide-area tap. You can achieve this by tapping around your earbones and the area in front of your ears. This should play and pause the music when you tap twice or turn on and turn off noise cancellation when you tap it three times. This is cool, right?

Battery Performance And Low Latency

On a single charge, with ANC on the earbuds are capable of delivering 8 hours of playtime with the case giving an extra 21 hours. However, if you decide to turn off ANC, you get 11 hours from the earbuds while the case gives you a total of 29 hours. So in total, you get 40 hours without ANC and 35.5 hours with ANC. Less I forget, the case supports fast charging. With a ten-minute quick charge, you get a 2 hours battery life which is decent.

The Oraimo Spacebuds isn’t designed solely for gaming, however, it has a game mode. on the app you can switch on game mode, this helps to reduce latency, perfectly syncing the audio and visuals. It is not the strongest gaming earbuds but it still does the job.

Pricing And Availability

As of the time of writing this post, the Spacebuds go for ₦ 37,900 which is cheap when you compare the price to the features it comes with. You can get a 12% discount when you purchase using the Oraimo store app and a further 5% discount when you use our discount code BRACKET. For those in Kenya, Ghana, and Morocco you can still use our discount code.

The Spacebuds is an impressive earbuds and I recommend this earbuds for those who want to upgrade and for those in search of affordable earbuds.
