Design and Build Quality

The charging case is different from what Oraimo normally gives us. There is a golden Oraimo logo bar on the front. It is made of plastic but the finish might make you think it’s made of metal. There is a USB-C charging port at the bottom of the case and an LED indicator that tells you about the power level.

The hinge is firm and can stand on its own after you open the charging case. It holds the earbuds firmly inside the case and they won’t fall out even when you turn it upside down. There is a button on the case and if you press it you will know the battery status of the earbud.

The earbud is stem style, and it won’t fall out of your ear even if you shake your ear. You also need to find the perfect ear tip for your ears. That way you will prevent sound leakage and the buds from falling out of your ears. It has in-ear detection and will play or pause music when you take them out of your ears. The design was thoughtful and the buds will fit in your pocket or bag. There are touch controls and we will talk about them in a bit.

Sound Quality Oraimo FreePods Pro

The Oraimo FreePods Pro sounds excellent without a doubt. They have good bass that is clean and punchy. Oraimo tuned it to afrobeats and anyone listening to that type of music will enjoy it. They have 8mm drivers that will give you an awesome listening experience. The mids and highs sound excellent and I am blown.

It separates instrumental and vocals and you will hear everything playing in a song. The buds have heavy bass mode and normal mode and you might prefer switching at times depending on what song you are listening to.

It has a large sound stage and you can hear individual instrumentals playing when you listen at high volumes. The sound quality is great and so is the call quality. There are four microphones on the earbud and they help improve the call quality.

Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode

It comes with Active noise cancellation and transparency features. The Oraimo FreePods Pro can cancel 35db noises and they perform just well. If you switch on to ANC mode you will only hear the music you are listening to and other noises will be blocked completely.

It also works well when you are in traffic or maybe in a noisy working environment. Even with the volume turned low the ANC still works well. It uses both the mics inside and outside to block noise. The ANC is awesome considering the price.

It also comes with a Transparency mode that lets you know what’s happening in your surroundings. The feature is important when you are outdoors. It can also be useful when you are having a discussion with someone with earbuds in your ears. The ANC and transparency mode are great.

Bluetooth Connectivity

The Oraimo FreePods Pro leveraged Google’s fast pairing to give a pop-up notification when the FreePods Pro is opened. You need the Bluetooth of your phone turned on before it will work.

Pairing the buds is fast because of the feature. Connecting to an iPhone is also seamless and fast but there is no pop-up notification. It uses Bluetooth 5.2 and it can work while staying 10 meters away from your phone. There is minimal lag on the earbud especially if you turn on the gaming mode.

Oraimo FreePods Pro Touch Controls:

  • Tap once to play or pause music
  • You tap twice to next a song and three taps for the previous song
  • Tap and hold for three beeps to summon your phone’s assistant
  • If you tap and hold for 4 beeps you switch between game mode and normal mode
  • Tap and hold the left earbud for two beeps to switch ON ANC mode or Transparency mode
  • To switch between heavy bass mode and normal mode you tap and hold the left earbud for 4 beeps

It’s not easy memorizing the touch controls but it gets better with time. The touch controls are amazing and responsive they work just fine.

Battery Life

The Earbuds will give you 13 hours of listening time if you listen with normal mode and 9 hours with ANC. It is excellent battery life and it is as good as you will get even on more expensive earbuds. The charging case has a 510mAh battery while each pair of buds comes with a 70mAh battery. You can charge the buds twice using the charging case when they are low.

Final Thoughts

The earbuds are completely worth buying because they bring a lot of premium features in a budget category. They have ANC and transparency mode with excellent battery life. The design won’t fade easily because of the metal-like finish it comes with. How good or what more do you want on a budget earbud?
