As we all know, wireless charging is now the new norm in the tech world. It all started with iPhone but now every tech brand out there is into it. So today’s post is focused on a budget-friendly wireless charger from Oraimo. The Oraimo PowerDock 15W wireless charger has been in the Oraimo stores for some couple of weeks now, we recently got our hands on one.

The PowerDock is a wireless charger specifically designed for iPhones but is still compatible with other smartphones that support wireless charging. On their website, Oraimo claimed the wireless charger is capable of delivering 15W of fast charging and we aren’t here to just agree with what they say. We tested this device and in this review, I will be letting you know what we found out I hope it helps you to make a proper decision in getting one of yourself or not. So let’s go check out this device.

Unboxing

The Oraimo PowerDock comes in a portable packing case starting with the unboxing. It has the usual green and black Oraimo packaging. The front of the case features an image of the PowerDock and a few specifications. The back of the box contains some other information about the product and certifications.

Opening the box, you are greeted with a well-packaged wireless charger, a welcome guide containing all the information about the device and how to use and lastly, you get a 60W Type-C cable( about a meter). In the box, we don’t get a power adapter, so it’s necessary to purchase one for yourself.

We advise you to get at least a 20W adapter for this device if you want a better performance. Just a little thing, for those of you who like to use USB cables for data transfer, sorry this cable doesn’t do that. It only charges your device.

Pricing And Availability

Before we move on with the review, let’s quickly check out the price. As of the time of writing this post, the Oraimo PowerDock goes for NGN 20,600 which is equivalent to $12. The PowerDock is one of the best affordable wireless chargers in 2024. Also, it’s the best budget-friendly alternative to the Apple wireless pad, so if you are on a budget this might be your best option.

Please don’t forget to use the discount code BRACKET when making a purchase. Using this code gets you a 5% discount on all of your purchases. The good thing is that the code is valid In Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Morocco. Thank you very much for using the code. So let’s move on with the review.

Oraimo 15W Wireless Charger–Design And Build Quality

Out of the box, the Oraimo PowerDock sports a simple and sleek design. It’s circular just like the Apple MagSafe charger although it’s a little bigger than the Apple MagSafe charger. It’s portable and lightweight and it’s that kind of charger that can go with you anywhere you are going. One side of the device is the charging spot.

This features a dark glossy surface that looks like glass, which gives it a premium and reflective appearance. Furthermore, you get some crucial symbols and certifications well printed along the glossy surface. There is also RGB lighting at the outer end of the device which adds more beauty to the device. Flipping over to the other side of this device, you get a polished stainless steel surface with a grey color.

You get the Oraimo brand name boldly printed in white at the center. This surface not only adds to the aesthetic of the device but also promises durability. Around the side of the device, you get the charging interface. Unlike the Apple MagSafe, you can attach and detach the cable anytime you want. I won’t lie, the Oraimo PowerDock design and build quality is up there. But we don’t mostly buy things because of design now do we?

Oraimo PowerDock’s Compatibility

The Oraimo wireless charging pad is widely compatible though its design is specifically for iPhones, it works perfectly well with devices that support wireless charging. It aligns perfectly with the iPhone 12 series and above and it works well with some Tecno and Infinix models. If you use the iPhone 11 series, you can wireless charge your device but the problem here is that it won’t stick to the back of your phone as in other iPhone series, so you will need to get a Magsafe phone case to achieve this.

You can get the budget Oraimo Magsafe cases or go for the Apple Magsafe case any will work perfectly. The wireless charger also works well with Android devices but you will need to align the phone with the charger perfectly before it begins to charge. One thing we notice again is that the magnetic suction is not as powerful as the one you get on the iPhones, so you will need to be careful when lifting the charger. Or better still just charge your devices on the table to keep both your phone and the Magsafe charge safe.

RGB Lighting Feature

The RGB lighting on this Oraimo wireless charger isn’t just there to add more beauty to the charger, they have their function to perform. The moment you plug the charger into a power source, the RGB lights come up and when you don’t place a device on the pad for about three minutes, the light deems down conserving energy.

When you do place a device on the pad and it shows a green stable light, it shows you that the device is compatible with wireless charging. When you get a red light, it means the device you placed on the pad doesn’t support wireless charging. I love this feature because it helps me to know if the device placed on the Magsafe is charging or not. This feature makes this wireless charger one of the best QI chargers in 2024.

Performance And Heat Management

Oraimo claimed that the PowerDock wireless charger is capable of delivering 15W fast charging. However, when we tested it on the iPhone 15 pro max, it was only capable of delivering 10W of fast charging. Now coming to the charging time, it took seven hours forty-nine minutes to charge the iPhone from zero to a hundred. This is disappointing when you compare it to the wired charging that takes only two hours and three minutes.

But when you consider that the wireless charger was designed for those on the go you won’t feel let down, but I believe Oraimo can do better. Despite the long charging time, the charger is sufficient for everyday use and perfect for those constantly on their working desk. And for those who love to charge their phone overnight, this Oraimo wireless charger is sufficient for that. For those who care about heat management, get in here.

Oraimo claimed the maximum heat this device can generate is forty degrees Celsius, on testing, the charge generates up to forty-one degrees and quickly drops down to forty. This simply means that the wireless charger can handle heat very well. It doesn’t get heated up like most chargers when used for a long period. The ambient heat is thirty-five degrees, this means the amount of heat it produces won’t damage both your device and the charger.

Final Words On The Oraimo PowerDock Wireless Charger

The PowerDock is the perfect budget wireless charger in the market. Although the charging efficiency isn’t what we all expected it is still sufficient for everyday use. Do we recommend this wireless charger? Yes, I recommend the charger for those who charge overnight, those with faulty charging points, and those who are constantly working on their desk and need a quick top-up.
