Oraimo SmartClipper 2 Gold First Impression

Out of the box, the Oraimo clipper looks beautiful, the gold color makes it catchy and attractive. It has a similar design to the Oraimo SmartClipper 2, if you know the SmartClipper 2 you will know the design is sleek. The difference between the two is the gold color of this one. To be honest, the clipper is a little bit weighty but won’t cause much problem for an average barber.

Despite the beautiful gold color, there is a problem, it leaves a fingerprint on the surface for every touch and it is prone to scratch which means you will need to keep it with care for the surface to last long. It features an LED display that shows the battery percentage of the clipper and lets you know when to recharge it.

The display is large enough for anyone to see the battery level at a glance. It comes with a switch knob by the side, which is for switching on/off. And at the rear is the Type-C charging port that comes with the Anifast fast charging technology. Lastly at the top is a protective plastic that protects the blade from dust or sudden drop. In general, the design is cool and the clipper has a sturdy build-up.

Blade And Hair Cut Performance

Oraimo claimed that this clipper comes with a DLC blade which gives you a smoother and cooler cutting experience. I didn’t use the clipper though, but I will be giving you the review I got from the guys that used it. According to them when asked about the performance, they told me that the blades are skin friendly and very sharp to cut all kinds of hair. It doesn’t overheat like most clippers on the market and has a moderate sound level.

According to the barber, the blades are durable and can retain their sharpness for a long period. He also said something about the motors, he said the motors are very good and provide enough speed for the blades. Oraimo claimed that the motors are energy efficient and he confirmed that. If you wish to adjust the blade level to your desired speed, you can use the adjustable bar by the side of the clipper.

Please note despite the blades being durable, you still need to care for the blades. You can do this by cleaning after use and lubricating the blades using the oil in the box. Battery Capacity And Performance

The Oraimo SmartClipper 2 Gold comes with an impressive 2500mAh battery capacity which is half of the battery capacity of my smartphone. I know why Oraimo claimed the clipper can last 180 minutes. But let’s not take their word for it. Am going to be giving you the battery test result hard. Out of the box, the clipper came with a 75% battery level and according to the manual, you will need to recharge it before using it.

Sorry I didn’t take note of the recharge time, I was in a conversation with another friend. According to the guys that used it, the haircut session lasted for 30 minutes and they used about 13% when you do the maths, 180 minutes would be equivalent to 80%, which thumps up Oraimo.

To recharge the clipper, you can use the Type-C cable in the box or any other Type-C cable at your disposal. This is because the clipper comes with the Anifast technology, which detects the charging speed of any cable and adjusts it to suit the charging port. So you don’t have to worry about using any kind of charger.
